This is a log of my journey to Shotokan Karate Shodan and beyond.

Saturday Karate class and workout.

One each of Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan, Heian Yondan, Heian Godan and Tekki Shodan. (6 total)

Excellent class but very painful.

We did a great deal of basics again, working on all of our test moves. Our Sensei is pushing us very hard to make sure that we do well on our tests and I like these classes better than the sparring classes. Basics and kata are my favorite part of Karate.

We did a lot of moves, much more than we would ever have to do at our tests but I was really winded. My legs were shaking and I could not tighten my fists near the end of class because all of my energy was sapped.

We then did kata in front of the group and even thought I didn’t think I had any steam left, I felt that my kata was pretty good overall.

My legs and hips hurt all day and night so I know I really pushed up against my limits.

Good stuff!
