This is a log of my journey to Shotokan Karate Shodan and beyond.

One each of Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan and Heian Yondan. Three each of Heian Godan and Tekki Shodan. (8 total) Most of my kata were performed very fast.

Good class!

We started with a hard warm up. We did a bunch of basics up and down the gym. Then we broke into groups, those that tested and those that did not. Since I have not tested yet, I had to get tortured. We did many basics, up the first Kyu level.

We then spent time working on kata. We did one at half speed but perfect form and two at full speed and full power. One of my Sensei’s said that my kata looked very fast, sharp and powerful. I have been doing my kata’s as fast as I can when training and it seems to be making a difference.
