This is a log of my journey to Shotokan Karate Shodan and beyond.

Sunday Karate workout – 10/28/07 – Kata and core.

October 28, 2007 by doug Leave a Comment

My hips were still sore from the last three days classes but I ended up starting out slowly and working up in speed and power as I did each kata.

10 – Tekki Shodan
1 – Heian Shodan
1 – Heian Nidan
1 – Heian Sandan
1 – Heian Yondan
1 – Heian Godan

2 x 15 – weighted side bends with 20 pound dumbbells.
2 x 15 – lying leg raises
2 x 15 – crunches

On my last two Tekki Shodan, I held my horse stance while just working on the upper body movements for both kata. I have been focusing more on tightening my quads, pushing my knee out and trying to keep my butt tucked under.
